Miscellaneous pictures from the casas

Here is a collection of extra pictures not included in recent posts.

For Father's Day, Margot recites a poem
at the Sunday service.

At Sagrada Familia, Bolt is now 6 months old and growing quickly.
He'll never lack for love and affection.

Adoption is getting closer

Former Dallas "Roofdogs" David and Emily will soon be adopting siblings Lizet, Angela, and Xavier. They have overcome the hurdle of getting visas to bring the kids to the USA.  It won't be long. It will be a big adjustment and a new chapter in the lives of all involved but should be VERY positive.

The kids are excited about this move and are working with Tia Kym on their English and Tia Gloria has been teaching them music vocabulary in English so they can continue their piano studies.

Tia Gloria is shown with Lizet and Angela.

Xavier is all smiles.

Gloria and Sandy get back in the swing of working with the kids

After their return from the USA on June 9, Gloria started a four-week language refresher on June 14.  She has time open in the afternoon for a few lessons and goes out to San Jose to work with the younger kids.

Here she has an introductory lesson with new students Pamela and Isela.

Sandy helps Angela and Yasmin with a
math assignment.
Xavier is getting a bit of extra assistance.

After school time is diligently spent on homework at San Jose.
These kids work really hard.

Diego Armando attacks a writing assignment.
WOW! You can see the smoke coming out their ears.

Wilber (1st grade) takes a break while his pals
push on with their daily tasks.

Tia Kym McDaniel comes to Arequipa

On June 17, Kym McDaniel arrived from Dallas to spend 7 weeks here in Arequipa.  She'll be studying 4 weeks of Spanish at our local language institute starting June 28.  She has been sharing with the kids of the casas, helping with teaching English and just loving on the kids. As you can see she is wonderfully received even by the new kids.  She is also "job shadowing" Maria Perez, the director, to learn what is involved in running a children's home.

At San Jose with the younger kids

Kym with Lizet and Tamara

Lizet and Yasmin think Tia Kym is pretty and special.

She also goes to Sagrada Familia to work with the teens.
